With the First Edition of the book released on October 1 st 1988 sales alone have now reached nearly 18 million. But what Miss Trunchbull doesn’t know is that this odd, lovable little girl has a trick or two up her sleeve to help out her friend, all whilst trying to find a better family to live with. To make things worse, the only person who seems to believe in Matilda – her teacher Miss Honey – is having her life made extremely difficult by the bullying headmistress Miss Trunchbull. ![]() Unfortunately her parents are too short-sighted to even notice. Matilda Wormwood is only five years old, but she is a genius. Such has been the success of Roald Dahl’s Matilda that to simply state that it is one of the all-time greatest Children’s Books is almost downplaying it. ![]()
